Simple Engagement Rings
Engagement rings in subtle design
Engagement Ring: Narrow or Wide? - The Main Thing is Simplicity
Engagement rings can look very different. Whether the lady receives just one ring at the marriage proposal or you decide on couple rings – the selection of both narrow and wide models is enormous. We show you how an engagement ring can look narrow or wide, give tips on which jewelry suits whom best, and present various combination options with gemstones. We also dedicate ourselves to simple rings for the proposal.
It's All a Matter of Type – Narrow or Wide
Asking the question of all questions at the proposal requires not only a good deal of courage, but also taste beforehand – after all, you don't choose a proposal ring every day. What's important is that the ring matches the style and character of the wearer and that she absolutely loves it. An exciting or simple proposal ring adorns the finger for a very long time; many ladies wear it daily after the wedding in addition to their wedding ring. You shouldn't have to compromise on personal taste in this regard!
No one likes to wear a ring that makes them feel "dressed up," that doesn't match their own style, no matter how beautiful it is or how expensive it was. If you're unsure whether your loved one would prefer a narrow or wider ring, you should discreetly take a look in her jewelry box: existing jewelry often provides a good indication. Her girlfriends or the mother of your sweetheart are also sure to be happy to help – though then the upcoming proposal is no longer a secret.
Narrow Engagement Rings - Simple Beauties
Not every woman dreams of eye-catching rings on her finger. The reasons for this can be quite different. It's possible that opulent jewelry simply doesn't match the wearer's taste or style. Perhaps the finger jewelry should also be worn in everyday life for the most varied occasions and even during work – a ring that's too wide can quickly be too much. Some women also don't wear much jewelry in general. Then a narrow engagement ring with reduced design is exactly the right choice!
One Thing in Focus
When the engagement ring is narrow, the focus of the design is usually on one special feature. This makes the jewelry look absolutely elegant, simple and timeless, yet it doesn't have to do without beautiful details that draw all eyes to it. Simple, narrow rings have a width of up to 3 mm and a distinctly delicate appearance and radiance. A major advantage is that you can combine them with many other pieces of jewelry without breaking style, and they also work perfectly as a solitaire ring worn with your future wedding ring on one finger.
A narrow engagement ring convinces with the motto "Less is more" through a valuable gemstone, high-quality precious metal, or a particularly elegant ring band with an unusual cut, which may be set with many small diamonds. If you want to focus on the material used, you can choose an engagement ring made of valuable platinum, which makes the otherwise simple jewelry something truly special for the big moment. Should the stones be the focus instead? A solitaire on a narrow ring band doesn't change the delicacy of the jewelry; many small stones create an impressive sparkle without changing the everyday wearability of the ring.
Whether shiny or matte, whether in platinum, white, rose, yellow gold or silver – a narrow engagement ring has many advantages and is the right choice for many women. Just be careful: this ring style does mean forgoing decorative grooves or trendy two-tone styles, but it shouldn't look completely plain. The piece of jewelry needs to stand out a bit, otherwise it won't differ from regular jewelry. When the engagement ring is narrow, it suits every hand and especially women with short fingers, on whom a wider model can look quite odd.
Wide Rings
For other women, impressive jewelry on the finger is a dream that can come true with an impressive diamond ring for the engagement. Such rings can be up to 8 mm wide, though of course exceptions, especially with men's rings, prove the rule. What's important is that the ring width doesn't restrict the fingers' mobility. If such an engagement ring is chosen, the fingers should ideally be long. This is how the finger jewelry looks most beautiful. The more lavish the pieces of jewelry, the more room there is for decorations, grooves, and engravings. If you want not only initials or the name and a date engraved, for example, you give the jeweler more space if the piece is larger. Depending on the chosen font size, even longer sayings or declarations of love can be engraved. All precious metals are of course available for the materials, and two-tone rings are also a nice option for these engagement rings.
It Should Sparkle – Combining with Gemstones
A diamond ring is the absolute classic for an engagement. If the engagement ring is narrow, an elegant solitaire, usually with a round diamond in brilliant cut, is ideal. And yet it can still be a simple engagement ring. Even other cuts such as the emerald or cushion cut can be used and make the piece of jewelry extraordinary yet simply elegant. Should there be multiple diamonds? Then engagement rings with asymmetrical stone settings or elegant solitaire rings with a narrow ring band and many small stones are a nice idea, but certainly won't be quite so purist.
If the wearer has an extravagant clothing style, the engagement ring can certainly be a bit more lavish. How about a fashionable material combination? Beautiful pieces of jewelry can be created from titanium and carbon, but traditional alloys like white gold and yellow gold also combine beautifully with each other. While a narrow ring is often set with a sparkling solitaire, a wider model for the engagement often uses smaller stones that are set into the ring band. If you're looking for a particularly striking piece of jewelry, you can of course also choose a wide engagement ring with a solitaire – such models are rarely worn in everyday life, however.
Alternatives to the Diamond Ring
Of course, it doesn't have to be a classic diamond. If the engagement ring is rather thin, sapphires, rubies, or emeralds also look beautiful as solitaires. If the engagement ring is larger, it can alternatively be decorated with these stones, but they must absolutely match the wearer's style.
Narrow or Wide: Something Suitable for Him
In recent years, more and more couples have decided to show everyone after the engagement with two rings that they belong together. While it used to be that a man only received a wedding ring at the wedding, today more and more couples wear high-quality pair rings before the marriage, which should not be confused with popular friendship rings. Of course, the engagement ring for the gentleman is always simple in its design when compared to the lady's ring. Decorations are popular; gemstones are rarely used. The men's ring is often wider than the ladies' model. If a narrow diamond ring with a solitaire was chosen for the lady, a simple model for the gentleman matches it just as well as a wide ladies' ring.
