You know you've set it correctly when you can only see the red circle (completely) inside the ring and only gray on the outside. When measuring, look straight down at the "hole" from directly above the ring. Click "Apply" when you're done.
Tip: Use a ring that lies flat on the screen. Rings with curved interiors (domed) will distort the result.
