From Family Business to Specialized Ring Manufactory
From the experience of a family business grown over generations, a modern production and trading company has emerged.
Today we focus on high-quality rings and a particularly large selection of models, diamond sizes, and precious metals.
We want to retain the characteristics of a classic jeweler: personal consultation, quality awareness, expertise, and the trust that is crucial when purchasing a special piece of jewelry.
At the same time, we use modern manufacturing, digital consultation, and e-commerce to offer our customers significantly more selection and information.
Our Founding Idea
The idea for verlobungsring.de didn't come from a desk, but from my own engagement and the question of why buying an engagement ring had to be so complicated back then.
It All Started with My Own Proposal
When I wanted to propose to my now-wife, buying an engagement ring was completely different than today. A specialized online shop for engagement rings where you could easily compare different models, diamond sizes, and prices practically didn't exist.
If you wanted to buy a high-quality engagement ring, you went to a jeweler. Ordering jewelry online was far from standard back then – and especially for an engagement ring, the idea was almost unthinkable for many people.
Brands like Tiffany strongly shaped the idea of how an engagement ring should be purchased: personally in-store, with consultation, a ring box, and a special shopping experience.
Ordering a high-quality diamond ring online, on the other hand, was rather frowned upon at that time.
My Engagement Ring Came from Germany
I also bought the ring for my now-wife in the classic way from a jeweler in Germany.
However, the proposal wasn't going to happen in Germany. We planned a trip to Australia and I was determined: I wanted to propose there.
But I needed a plan so she wouldn't suspect anything before our trip.
I asked my mother to pick up the engagement ring from the jeweler for me.
A Christmas Gift with Special Contents
The ring was then wrapped as if it were a Christmas gift for me.
My then-girlfriend – and now-wife – took this supposed Christmas gift with her to Australia.
The special thing about it: She unknowingly transported her own engagement ring to the other side of the world.
For me, of course, this was the perfect solution. The ring arrived safely in Australia without her suspecting anything.
The Proposal on an Australian Beach
In Australia came the moment for which the ring had made this long journey.
I proposed to my now-wife on the beach.
This moment was of course something very special for us personally. But even during the preparation, I kept thinking about how cumbersome the search and purchase of an engagement ring had been.
Why couldn't you inform yourself at home in peace? Why wasn't there a clear overview of designs, diamond sizes, precious metals, and prices?
Why Wasn't There an Online Shop Just for Engagement Rings?
It became increasingly clear to me that the entire purchasing process could be much simpler.
When someone buys a diamond ring for the first time, they usually don't know anything about carats, clarity, color, cut, precious metals, or ring sizes.
Yet back then, you had to make many decisions directly at the jeweler.
My vision was different: Customers should be able to inform themselves at home, compare different models, and understand why, for example, two diamonds differ in price.
At the same time, the quality and security of a classic jeweler should be preserved.
After Australia Came the Business Idea
After we returned to Germany, this thought wouldn't leave me alone.
I bought the domain verlobungsring.de and began building a specialized online shop for engagement rings.
The idea was unusual for the time: A piece of jewelry that is emotional, high-quality, and requires explanation should be purchasable online with the same security as at a jeweler.
At the same time, customers should receive significantly more information and be able to compare a much larger selection.
This Is How verlobungsring.de Was Created
From this personal experience, verlobungsring.de emerged as one of the early specialized online shops for engagement rings in Germany.
From the beginning, we focused on exactly the questions I had asked myself when buying:
- Which ring suits my partner?
- What diamond size is right?
- What quality should a diamond have?
- Which precious metal is best?
- How do I find the right ring size?
- How quickly can the ring be delivered?
The Original Idea Remains the Same Today
Since then, online retail has changed fundamentally. Today it's taken for granted to research and order high-quality products online.
But our original idea remains the same: We want to make buying an engagement ring as simple, transparent, and secure as possible.
At the same time, we don't want to lose the advantages of a classic jeweler: high-quality craftsmanship, personal consultation, reliable service, and trust.
This combination of traditional jewelry craftsmanship and modern online shopping is what defines BREEDIA today.
From First Ring to Specialized Ring Manufactory
Over the years, the original online shop developed into a company with its own production, numerous ring collections, and an increasingly comprehensive service offering.
Today we often accompany our customers not just when buying their engagement ring. Many return later when it comes to wedding bands.
What started as a very personal experience around my own proposal has become a company that today accompanies thousands of couples through this special moment.

With it, couples can design their wedding bands individually while benefiting from BREEDIA's experience and manufacturing quality.
For our existing customers, we offer, among other things, a 10% discount voucher.
By now, almost one in five customers who bought a proposal ring from us later also orders their wedding bands from BREEDIA.
